Cherry scores 27 as Montana tops N. Colorado 76-58

MISSOULA, Mont. (AP) — Will Cherry had 27 points, six assists and four steals and Montana took advantage of 28 Northern Colorado turnovers in a 76-58 victory Thursday night.

Kareem Jamar, Mathias Ward and Derek Selvig added 11 points each for the Grizzlies (12-6, 5-1 Big Sky), who won for the seventh time in eight games.

Mike Proctor had 14 points and nine rebounds for Northern Colorado (6-11, 3-3). Tevin Svihovec added 12 points.

The Bears led by 12 points midway through the first half, but then committed 10 turnovers during an 18-8 Montana run. A steal by Jordan Wood led to a layup by Cherry with 1 second left in the half to put the Grizzlies ahead 37-36.

Montana went ahead 58-48 on a layup by Jamar with 15:40 left in the game, then outscored the Bears 19-3 to take a 26-point lead with 7:27 left when Ward canned a 3-pointer.
