MILWAUKEE (AP) — Outfielder Nyjer Morgan has agreed to a $2.35 million, one-year contract with the Milwaukee Brewers, avoiding arbitration.
Morgan arrived in Milwaukee in a trade with the Washington Nationals last March, becoming the team’s primary center fielder against right-handed pitchers. He played in 119 games for the Brewers, batting .304 with four home runs and 37 RBIs. He made $471,500.
Morgan can make an additional $50,000 in performance bonuses based on plate appearances: $25,000 each for 500 and 525.
With Morgan’s deal Monday, four Brewers players remain in arbitration: starter Shaun Marcum and relievers Francisco Rodriguez, Kameron Loe and Jose Veras.
