DURHAM, N.H. (AP) — Patrick Konan scored 19 points in only 22 minutes off the bench to help New Hampshire hold off Vermont 72-65 on Saturday, snapping a three game losing streak.
Konan shot 78 percent (7 of 9) from the field and 3 of 4 from 3-point range.
New Hampshire (6-9, 1-3 American East) took a 14-point lead, 46-32, behind a 3-pointer by Konan two minutes into the second half. Vermont roared back to draw within one, 62-61, with 2:07 left to play but New Hampshire closed the game on a 10-3 run.
Konan hit two free throws to cap the run.
The Wildcats shot 46 percent (23 of 50) from the field compared to just 36 percent (21 of 58) for Vermont.
The Catamounts made 22 of 28 made throws but only 1 of 8 3-pointers.
Brendan Bald and Matt Glass led Vermont (9-10, 3-2) with 12 apiece.
