OLYMPIA, Wash. (AP) — Supreme Court Justice Tom Chambers is retiring at the end of his term this year, and at least two candidates say they’ll run for the open seat.

Chambers was elected to the court in 2000. He announced Thursday that he would not seek a third term

King County Superior Court Judge Bruce Hilyer announced Friday that he would seek the seat, as will Former Pierce County Executive John Ladenburg. Ladenburg announced in June that he would seek any open seat on the court, and he told The News Tribune of Tacoma on Friday that he would go for Chambers’ seat.

Former Justice Richard Sanders, who lost his seat to current Justice Charlie Wiggins in 2010, says he’s also considering running.
