Fruit Tree Stewards program: The program will cover tree biology, pruning techniques, pest and disease management, grafting, native pollinators, fruit thinning and summer maintenance. Class is from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. every fourth Wednesday, January through June; hands-on field session from 9 a.m. to noon every fourth Saturday. Watershed Stewards Volunteer Training: 6:30 to 9 p.m. Thursdays Jan. 26 through March 29 at 78th Street Heritage Farm, 1919 N.E. 78th St. Learn what you can do to maintain healthy watersheds for the community, fish and wildlife and future generations. After training, volunteers will work on a variety of projects with the Watershed Stewards Program and local environmental partners in public outreach and education, stream restoration, water-quality monitoring, classroom presentations and community workshops.
