LONDON (AP) — Track great Michael Johnson will work with the Williams Formula One team to help its crew speed up drivers’ pit stops.
Williams F1 says the training company founded by the retired 400-meter Olympic champion will “provide an intensive training program for the team’s pit crew personnel as well as conducting an evaluation of the team’s training regime.”
Shaving a small amount of time off a stay in the pits can make a huge difference to a driver’s race performance.
Johnson says he is “confident that the experience and biomechanics expertise … (can) cut hundredths and even tenths of a second from their pit stop times.”
Michael Johnson Performance Inc., has already worked with the Dallas Cowboys and FC Dallas of the MLS.
