Dougher scores 19, Stony Brook beats Albany 81-68

STONY BROOK, N.Y. (AP) — Bryan Dougher scored 19 points and Dallis Joyner had a double-double to help lead Stony Brook over Albany (N.Y.) 81-68 on Sunday.

The Seawolves (10-7, 2-1 America East Conference) shot 72 percent in the first half (18 of 25), while holding the Great Danes to 34.3 percent (12 of 35) in the opening 20 minutes. Stony Brook took a 44-33 advantage into halftime, and stretched its lead to as many as 18, 55-37, on Marcus Rouse’s jump shot with 15:57 remaining.

Joyner finished with 15 points and 11 rebounds as the Seawolves won the battle of the boards 38-28. Anthony Jackson chipped in 11 points for Stony Brook, which won its fifth straight overall and ninth straight at home.

Gerardo Suero, the nation’s fourth leading scorer with 22.1 points per game coming in, scored 28 to lead the Great Danes (10-7, 2-1).
