The Vancouver Watersheds Alliance will kick off its second “Food and Film Series” on Jan. 24 with a documentary about lives of bees and their sharp decline in numbers. The screening of “Queen of the Sun: What Are the Bees Telling Us?” will begin at 6 p.m. in the Vancouver Community Library, 901 C St.
The six-month-long film series will present a different environment-related film on the fourth Tuesday of every month through June. Following this month’s look at bees and beekeeping, the series will cover topics including soil, Dumpster diving, plastic bags and food, according to the watersheds alliance.
Each month’s film will be followed by a panel discussion. The Jan. 24 conversation will be led by three local beekeeping experts: Jacqueline Freeman of Friendly Haven Rise Farm, Heather Lehman of WestVan Bee Stewards, and local beekeeper Sally Fischer.
