Southeast Missouri tops Jacksonville State 74-56

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (AP) — Tyler Stone scored 24 points and Southeast Missouri used huge runs in each half to defeat Jacksonville State 74-56 on Monday night.

The Redhawks (7-7, 2-0 Ohio Valley) opened with an 11-0 start. In the second half they pulled away from a 43-41 lead with a 15-0 spurt for a 58-41 edge with 9:14 left.

Marcus Brister had 14 points and eight rebounds and Marland Smith 11 points and six assists for Southeast Missouri, which won its third in a row.

Brian Williams’ 19 points paced the Gamecocks (5-11, 0-3), who have lost three straight and are 0-8 on the road

Southeast Missouri, which began its previous game with a 15-0 run in a 67-51 victory over Morehead State, shot 50 percent (25 of 50) to the Gamecocks’ 32 percent (19 of 60).

Jacksonville State’s only lead came at 16-15 on Williams’ basket with 10:53 left in the first half.
