CONWAY, S.C. (AP) — No. 19 North Carolina bounced back from a miserable offensive showing with a 75-49 victory over Coastal Carolina on Sunday.
Antoinette Bannister came off the bench to score 13 points for the Tar Heels (10-1), whose 49-21 victory over North Carolina Central last Wednesday was their lowest score in a victory in 37 years, matching a 49-40 win over Virginia in the 1975-76 season.
They had almost that many by halftime against the Chanticleers (6-3), building a 39-27 lead at the break as Tierra Ruffin-Pratt scored all 11 of her points.
North Carolina put the game out of reach with 13 second-half steals, giving the Tar Heels 21 for the game. Krista Gross, who also had nine rebounds, made six steals for the Tar Heels and Ruffin-Pratt had five.
Angelica Henry scored 15 points to pace Coastal Carolina, which shot 26.7 percent (16 of 60) for the game.
