Davis scores 17, Utah State tops Utah Valley 69-63

OREM, Utah (AP) — Marcel Davis scored 17 points and Jarred Shaw scored 12 points and grabbed 11 rebounds to pace Utah State to a 69-63 victory over Utah Valley on Saturday night.

The lead changed hands 10 times, most of those in the first half, before Utah State (6-1) took control.

Utah State shot 54.7 percent from the floor, had a 35-20 rebounding advantage and its bench outscored Utah Valley (5-7) 17-0.

Utah Valley had four men score in double figures. They were Alfonzo Hubbard and Holton Hunsaker with 17, Nick Thompson with 13 and Jason Johnson with 10.

Utah State’s biggest lead — 12 — came with 7:24 left in the game.
