SOMERS, Conn. (AP) — A two-time harness racing Horse of the Year has survived a barn collapse caused by a heavy snowfall in Somers, Conn., in which two other horses died.
The international trotting star Moni Maker was among 15 horses in the barn at Lindy Farm when a section of the roof collapsed Thursday.
Rescue workers managed to save all but two of the horses. They freed Moni Maker from the debris and several feet of snow, according to the owners of the farm.
Moni Maker, now 18, earned $5.5 million during her career and was the 1998 and 1998 Horse of the Year.
