Kent State defeats Miami (Ohio) 78-57

KENT, Ohio (AP) — Randal Holt scored 22 points on 6-of-8 shooting from beyond the arc and Kent State pulled away from Miami (Ohio) 78-57 on Sunday.

The Golden Flashes (12-7, 3-2 Mid-American Conference) trailed 22-18 after a jumper from Nick Winbush with 8:59 remaining in the opening half. Holt answered with a 3-pointer, sparking a 15-0 run for Kent State, which was aided by seven Miami turnovers.

The RedHawks (8-11, 3-2) turned the ball over 16 times in the first half — leading to 20 points for the Golden Flashes — and trailed 39-29 at halftime.

Kent State stretched its lead to its largest of the game, 73-51, with 4:04 left to play.

Winbush finished with 15 points and 12 rebounds, Chris McHenry added 13 points and Orlando Williams 12 for Miami.

Rodriguez Sherman scored 14 and Carlton Guyton added 12 for the Golden Flashes, who shot 11 for 23 from 3-point range (47.8 percent).
