What’s the buzz from the world of sports? Here are some items that will have people talking:

ESPN.com’s season-long fantasy football contest included 3 million contestants and was won by a man who doesn’t have a computer — or a home.

According to “The Salem News,” Nathan Harrington, 33, of Salem, Mass., had back surgery, went on medical leave from his job, and was forced from his apartment when the building was condemned. For the contest, he used computers at his father’s nursing home, his mother’s house, and the library.

For his accomplishment, Harrington won a $3,500 Best Buy gift card, which he’s selling to his mother for $2,500 cash.

The University of Washington announced that its basketball arena will be known as Alaska Airlines Arena at Hec Edmundson Pavilion for the next five years, although we’re guessing the locals will still go with, “Hec Ed.”

Meanwhile, the school is gearing up for a $250 million renovation of its football stadium, set to be completed in 2013. School officials have said the stadium will always be Husky Stadium, but that parts of the facility could be for sale. We can’t wait for some announcer to say, “He’s across the Dawn Wells 5-yard line and heading for the Tim Lincecum end zone.”
