TORONTO (AP) — The NHL has suspended San Jose Sharks forward Scott Nichol four games for delivering a hit to the head of Phoenix Coyotes defenseman David Schlemko.
The NHL announced the suspension in a release Tuesday.
The incident occurred midway through the third period of San Jose’s 4-2 victory on Monday night. No penalty was assessed on the play.
Schlemko was hurt on the play and did not return.
Nichol will forfeit $16,344 in salary. He will be eligible to return Feb. 2 at Anaheim.
