Drexel hangs on to beat Delaware 68-55

PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Daryl McCoy scored 14 points and grabbed 15 rebounds and Samme Givens added 12 points and 14 rebounds to lead Drexel past Delaware 68-55 on Saturday.

The Dragons (10-4, 2-2 Colonial Athletic Association) led 22-17 with 6:34 remaining in the opening half and went on a 14-2 run to end the half, taking a 36-19 lead into the break.

A layup from Jamelle Hagins with 11:52 left to play pulled the Blue Hens (7-7, 2-2) to within six, 46-40. Drexel answered with an 8-3 run to extend its lead to 11, 54-43, with 6:07 to go.

Jawan Carter scored 24 points to lead Delaware, which shot 35.7 percent from the floor (20 of 56), and Devon Saddler added 12.

Frantz Massenat led the Dragons with 16 points on 5-of-7 shooting.

Drexel, which ranks fourth in the country in rebounds per game (42.5), posted a 38-32 rebounding advantage and outscored the Blue Hens 40-26 on points in the paint.
