PORT TOWNSEND, Wash. (AP) — The new Washington state ferry Chetzemoka (chet-za-mocha) missed two round-trip sailings Thursday morning so repairs could be made.

Ferry officials say a split exhaust valve was discovered on the No. 2 engine during a routine overnight maintenance check. The repairs were completed by the engineering crew.

Washington State Ferry spokeswoman Marta Coursey tells the Peninsula Daily News that the repair process included a sea trial.

The ferry entered service in mid-November. It serves the Coupeville-Port Townsend route.
