MALIBU, Calif. (AP) — Lorne Jackson scored a career-high 26 points and Pepperdine pulled away in the second half to defeat San Diego 75-55 in a West Coast Conference opener Thursday night.

Jackson went 8 of 9 from the floor, sinking the only 3-pointer he took, and converted 9 of 10 free throws for the Waves, who outscored the Toreros 48-27 in the second half.

Mychel Thompson had a game-high 10 rebounds for the Waves (7-11), who evened their home record at 4-4.

Matt Dorr led the Toreros (3-12) with 16 points, and Darian Norris scored 14.

The Toreros held their largest lead at 22-15 with 6:25 left in the first half and were up 28-27 at intermission.

But Corbin Moore’s layup with 15:30 left pushed Pepperdine ahead 35-34 and started a 12-0 run that put the game away.
