I recently received a $99 ticket for not having a Discover Pass while spending 45 minutes at Beacon Rock.
I purchased a Discover Pass in August online and paid $35 for the $30 pass with “fees.” I use equestrian trails at Battle Ground Lake and Beacon Rock State Park a few times yearly and our family enjoys climbing Beacon Rock occasionally.
I’m not opposed to paying for using state parks.
However, the Discover Pass is not transferable between vehicles. To take our pickup to Battle Ground Lake, I wrote its license number on the Discover Pass.
In October, I purchased a hunting license and deer tag. I paid $42.90 into the state coffers for this and also received a Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife parking pass. I put the license number of our car on it.
