TULSA, Okla. (AP) — Oakland, Mich., scored 20 unanswered points in the first half but had to stave off an Oral Roberts rally Thursday night to remain undefeated in Summit League play, winning 85-77.
The Golden Grizzlies (9-8, 4-0) received 14 of their 20 straight points from Travis Bader and Will Hudson to build a 17-point lead early in the first half.
Oral Roberts rallied with 28 of its 36 first-half points from Steven Roundtree and Dominique Morrison. Morrison’s layup with 16:28 left put the Golden Eagles (5-10, 2-2) ahead 48-47, their first lead since it was 5-2.
But Oakland star Keith Benson countered, leading an 11-0 run that put the Summit League co-leaders back on top for good with just under 13 minutes to play.
Benson, the reigning conference player of the year, finished with 20 points, 13 rebounds and four blocks. Morrison had a game-high 32 points for Oral Roberts.
