Hot-shooting Cornell beats Wofford 86-80

RICHMOND, Va. (AP) — Drew Ferry scored 25 points and Chris Wroblewski added 21 to lead Cornell to an 86-80 victory over Wofford on Thursday.

The Big Red (3-9) shot 63.8 percent from the field (30 of 47) behind Ferry, who was 8 of 9, including seven 3-pointers in eight attempts in the consolation game of the Richmond Marriott Holidays on the Hardwood Classic.

Cornell shot 71.4 percent from beyond the arc (15 of 21) to end an eight-game losing streak.

The Big Red led 69-52 with 11:34 left, but Wofford (5-8) cut its deficit to 82-78 on Jamar Diggs’ free throws with 26 seconds to play. Errick Peck extended the lead to 87-78 with two free throws and Ferry added two more with 10 seconds left.

Peck scored 16 points and Aaron Osgood had 12 for Cornell. Wroblewski also had 12 assists.

Noah Dahlman scored 25 points, Cameron Rundles had 20 and Diggs and Tim Johnson scored 10 each for Wofford.
