MOUNT VERNON, Wash. (AP) — The Mount Vernon, Wash., fire chief says a freight train hit a tractor-trailer rig Wednesday night as the truck tried to cross the tracks. Chief Roy Hari says the truck’s trailer was bent “like a can of sardines” but no one was injured.

He tells the Skagit Valley Herald that the truck was heading east on College Way and the train was northbound.
