VIENNA (AP) — Former World Cup champion Gregor Schlierenzauer has been ruled out of the first two events of the prestigious Four Hills ski jumping tour because of a knee injury.

The Austrian Ski Federation said Wednesday that Schlierenzauer will miss events in Oberstdorf on Dec. 29 and Garmisch-Partenkirchen on Jan. 1. He is also doubtful for the following meets in Innsbruck and Bischofshofen.

The 20-year-old Schlierenzauer tore a collateral ligament in a training crash last week. He underwent surgery on the same right knee last year.

Schlierenzauer, a winner of 32 World Cup events, has failed to finish in the top 10 so far this season.
