BALTIMORE (AP) — Authorities say a man has been arrested for plotting to blow up a military recruitment center near Baltimore.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office for Maryland says in a statement that the man wanted to blow up an Armed Forces recruiting station in Catonsville with what he believed to be a vehicle bomb. He was arrested Tuesday morning.

The office says there was no danger to the public. The bomb was phony, and the man had been monitored by law enforcement for months.

The office says there is no evidence the man is connected to recent shootings at military facilities in the Washington area.

He’ll have an initial apperance at 2 p.m. in federal court in Baltimore.
