LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP) — Hundreds of fans have braved bitter cold temperatures to welcome Zenyatta back home to Kentucky.

Fans, many of them documenting the moment with their cameras, lined three or four deep around the outside walking ring at Keeneland as horse racing’s leading lady pranced one more time before heading off to retirement at Lane’s End Farm.

Zenyatta flew from California to Kentucky on Monday, the final trip in an amazing career that included 19 wins in 20 races for owners Ann and Jerry Moss.

The stop at Keeneland was a trip down memory lane for the Mosses, who purchased Zenyatta for $60,000 at the Keeneland September Yearling Sale in 2005.

Track officials presented her with a gift basket filled with mints, carrots and several bottles of Guinness beer.
