PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) — Vincent Council scored 19 points and tied the Providence single-game assist record with 16 in a 91-64 win over Brown on Monday night.
Marshon Brooks scored a career-high 33, for his fourth straight game with at least 20 points, for the Friars (9-1).
The Bears (4-4) controlled the game for much of the first half, leading by as many as eight points. But the Friars put together a 16-3 run to close the half and go into the break up by five, 39-34.
Brooks helped the Friars continue that run as the second half began, scoring 12 points in the opening four minutes to put the game out of the Bears’ reach. It was the fifth straight win for Providence, and fourth straight against the Bears.
Garrett Leffelman scored 22 points to lead Brown, and Sean McGonagill added 12 points and five assists.
