Giants announce deal with Miguel Tejada

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — The World Series champion San Francisco Giants have formally announced their $6.5 million, one-year deal with free agent Miguel Tejada.

Tejada passed his physical Thursday, making the deal official. He will take over a spot filled previously by World Series MVP Edgar Renteria and Juan Uribe.

Tejada played 156 games last season with Baltimore and San Diego. He batted .269 with 15 home runs, 26 doubles and 71 RBIs between his two clubs in 2010. He had an on-base percentage of .312 and slugged .381.
