NEW YORK (AP) — If negotiations with Derek Jeter haven’t sent Brian Cashman climbing up a tree, they have the New York Yankees general manager descending a building on a rope.
Cashman will be a “guest elf rappeller” with Santa Claus down 22 stories of the Landmark Building in Stamford, Conn., on Sunday, part of the city’s “Heights & Lights.” Cashman will make a practice run on Friday morning.
“I’ve been leaving milk and cookies for Santa for some time now, but this year I wanted to take a more active role in assisting him,” Cashman said in a statement released by the Yankees on Tuesday. “As an elf, you have to be willing to build toys, wrap presents, prepare reindeer for flight, or rappel off buildings for Santa. I take my role as an elf seriously because there are a lot of children out there counting on him.”
Cashman lives in Connecticut.
