EVERETT, Wash. (AP) — The Snohomish County prosecutor said a Lake Stevens police officer was justified in fatally shooting an armed man in November of last year.

Prosecutor Mark Roe says the officer, Jerad Wachtveitl, had no choice but to shoot the man, John LaBossiere, when he raised a loaded handgun at officers.

The Daily Herald of Everett reports the 26-year-old had returned a few months ealier from his third tour in Iraq. Officers had responded to a report he was threatening his estranged wife.
