It was so simple for Derek Anderson, yet he blew it.

After Monday night’s game, Arizona’s quarterback was asked a question he did not like. He could have answered it easily and moved on. Instead, he’s not a YouTube sensation, as he swore and screamed at a reporter.

Anderson was caught on camera smiling or laughing on the sideline with a teammate, and a reporter wanted to know what that was all about. After all, Anderson’s team was getting crushed.

The simple answer: My teammate made a funny comment or a joke to cheer me up, I reacted, and for that moment, yeah, I cracked up. But that does not mean I was laughing at our team, nor our performance. It was a five-second escape during a three-hour nightmare.

Instead, Anderson answered with a tirade.

Oh well, it looks like Anderson will not be a starting quarterback for long. Maybe he was hoping to get his own beer commercial for the tirade.

Derek Anderson, he is who we thought he was.
