Before graduating from Hazel Dell Elementary School, Sarah Payne wanted to do something positive for her school. She came up with Sarah’s Give Back Campaign, where friends, family and classmates would sponsor her while she completed laps running, swimming and horseback riding, three of her favorite activities. Last year, Lara Alford’s fourth-grade class at Fircrest Elementary School started collecting bottle caps for an Earth Day project, since in Clark County plastic bottle caps can’t be recycled in the regular containers because they are a different grade of plastic, Alford wrote in an email.
