An increase in call volume and property values are stretching East County Fire and Rescue’s budget and the department is thinking about asking to put a levy lid lift up for vote just to maintain service. The chief said that if the vote passes, they might look to replace the air packs firefighters use when entering a burning structure and the jaws of life on some engines.
