Recently, the Interstate 5 Bridge replacement project was awarded $1.5 billion of funding. Very good. That the edifice needs replaced is a given; my request is apply common sense to the project. It’s apparent the “idee fixe” is the impetus for forging ahead with replacement. Read story

Over the years I have noticed dogs in stores and they do not appear to be providing any assistance, as required by the law (“Are dogs allowed in Washington state grocery stores?” The Columbian, Aug. 10). I’ve seen big dogs, little dogs, dogs walking, in people’s arms, and in baskets. Read story
