Edna Christofferson watched her daredevil husband fly off the Multnomah Hotel and land at the Vancouver Barracks successfully, only to later watch him fall 100 feet from the sky to his death while testing an experimental plane. She delayed getting her own pilot's license until late 1931. A crack shot, she was an advocate of women's self-defense using firearms. She was among the first X-ray technicians in the area and founded the Women's National Aeronautic Association to promote women's flying.
