Sitting at a desk in this 1920 photo, Patrick "Paddy" Hough, a retired Vancouver High School principal, makes notes. He died in 1925. Vancouver residents so loved the gentle teacher, they named the Hough neighborhood and Hough Elementary after him. Casually glancing at this photo, his hand appears in a coat pocket. A closer look shows an empty lower sleeve. He lost part of his arm during the Franco-Prussian War (1870-71).
