As bank president, he and his clerk conspired for 10 years to hide the problem. His father, S.W. Brown, had political connections to the Republican Party and President Abraham Lincoln dating back to the 1858 Lincoln-Douglas Debates in Galesburg, Ill. The Vancouver Office of Stahancyk, Kent & Hook occupy the house today.
