Clark County Life

Mike Hennessy, a laborer passing through Vancouver, unwittingly became an interesting footnote in Clark County history. After drinking too much "cider" (code for liquor at the time) he declared himself a Wobbly. Local police charged him with sedition, a traitorous criminal transgression against the government. The Washington State Penitentiary took his mug shot and gave him prisoner number 9309. After 18 months, the state pardoned and released him.

Francisco Flores of Amazon, center, joins fellow volunteers as they plant native trees  on Monday morning during the Martin Luther King Day of Service at Meadowbrook North.
