In 1962, Vancouver Mayor P.L. “Bob” Wilson, Dr. John Brougher of the Fort Vancouver Historical Society and Mrs. Horace Baker of the Vancouver Garden Club installed a plaque declaring that the Old Apple Tree, planted in 1826, was the oldest such tree in the terrritory. More than 50 years later, it still stands.
