Saturday morning shooting in Yakima leaves man dead, woman injured

YAKIMA—A man died after a shooting Saturday morning in Yakima, the Yakima Police Department reported.

Police responded to a report of gunfire about 10:15 a.m. Saturday near Prospect Way and North 66th Ave., the YPD said on social media. When they arrived, officers found two adults with gunshot wounds.

A 43-year-old man died at the scene, police said, while a 47-year-old woman was transported to a Seattle hospital “for advanced care.”

The YPD social media post did not identify the man or the woman.

Police said the shootings appeared to be the result of a domestic violence incident. The major crimes and special assault units are investigating, according to the YPD’s post on social media.
