Isn’t it crazy how we have to fight our government? (“Challenging government is uphill legal battle” The Columbian, Sept. 21). It sure would be nice if we had a system that provided the people representation, with the authority to enforce transparent review and appropriate corrective action to problems reported by the people.
Imagine for a second a checks-and-balances government placing the people first. I know — crazy! Instead of having to spend thousands of our hard-earned dollars to hire lawyers to fight the government that is in bed with the rich and powerful who are using our taxes to pay for lawyers fighting against us – we simply had a government that represented us and followed the intent of the law above all else.
Makes one wonder if anyone has ever tried a for-the-people, four-branch system specifically designed to protect the people against the royally rich and powerful. Sigh. I bet if they did, it was way back in the 1700s and was quickly destroyed by people simply voting by the alphabet after a person’s name instead of what they bring to the table.
Please follow the money, bring back representation, and vote wisely.
