Letter: Reject Vance’s extremism

By John M. Kowalski, VANCOUVER
Published: September 26, 2024, 6:00am

A recent letter stated that the best way to create good governance is to question candidates. Apropos of that, it would be good to question JD Vance about his ties to billionaire Peter Thiel and tech bro Curtis Yarvin, both of whom are known to be friends and/or mentors to Vance, and both have espoused dismantling our democracy and human rights. The latter even refers to himself as a “Jacobite,” meaning he favors absolute monarchist rule. I’m not kidding.

Vance must state explicitly that he disavows such extremism; otherwise he’s unqualified for any political office.

We can’t afford to vote for anyone that will work to destroy America’s civil rights and liberties.

We encourage readers to express their views about public issues. Letters to the editor are subject to editing for brevity and clarity. Limit letters to 200 words (100 words if endorsing or opposing a political candidate or ballot measure) and allow 30 days between submissions. Send Us a Letter
