As some cities and states around the country continue to confront the issue of Confederate monuments, I believe there is a simple solution to this conflict. Instead of removing these statues, let’s enhance them by adding a hand resting on the figure’s shoulder. This gesture symbolizes respect, understanding, and forgiveness. In this way, we can still honor our history while celebrating the progress we’ve made since then.
