Thanks to Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, the war in Gaza continues without end in sight. The price? Over 40,000 dead Palestinians. According to a former commander of the Israeli military’s Gaza division, Netanyahu has failed to even contemplate a realistic alternative governing body in Gaza after the war ends. Many former and current Israeli military officials have decried Netanyahu’s “total victory” mantra as illusory and unachievable. Only a cease-fire with Hamas will make possible a return of the hostages and the inevitable two-state solution.
