Clark County residents will have two opportunities to learn more about planned improvements for the Klineline Pond section of Salmon Creek Regional Park.

Clark County Public Works received a $1.3 million grant from the state in 2023 after the state Department of Commerce recognized Klineline Pond as a significant community resource in need of major improvements. The county is planning a project to remove barriers that make the park inaccessible to those with disabilities or special needs.

Public Works staff, working in conjunction with consultants, identified several areas of concern and developed a master plan for the park. Improvements include addressing accessibility issues at the bridge and parking lot and replacing the playground and splash pad.

Improvements at the park also include the construction of a new picnic shelter, which began this spring and is expected to finish by November. The shelter had to be replaced after being irreparably damaged by winter storms.

The county will host an in-person informational session from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at Klineline Pond, 1112 N.E. 117th St., Vancouver. Park planners will have conceptual plans available to view.

Those interested in learning more about the project can also attend an open house from 6-8 p.m. Oct. 9 at Salmon Creek Elementary School, 1601 N.E. 117th St., Vancouver. Staff will share the master plan from 6:30-7 p.m. Only the presentation portion of the open house will be available online.

Meeting interpretation, additional translation and other accommodations can be requested by contacting Michael Chau, project manager, at michael.chau@clark.wa.gov or call 564-397-5886.
