How Clark County College Football Players Fared: Flanagan, CWU electric in west Texas

Lightning may have delayed the game, but Tyler Flanagan brought the thunder.

Flanagan rushed for 104 yards and three touchdowns to lead Central Washington to a 45-3 road win over Texas A&M on Saturday. The running back from Woodland High School scored on rushes of 12, 7 and 1 yards.

Severe thunderstorms near Canyon, Texas delayed the kickoff nearly three hours. The Wildcats dominated their Long Star Conference opener once the game started just before 10 p.m. local time.

Flanagan was Central Washington’s most-reliable offensive weapon last season. He rushed for 1,014 yards and 12 touchdowns en route to earning first-team all-conference honors. He has reached the end zone in all three games this season and has five touchdowns on the season.

Though a junior eligibility wise, Flanagan is in his sixth year at Central after missing most of the 2022 season due to injury and having the team’s 2020 season wiped out by COVID. Flanagan has said this will be his final year with the Wildcats.

The expectations are high as Flanagan was selected as the Lone Star Conference preseason offensive player of the year. So far, the Wildcats captain has lived up to those standards.

Here’s how other collegiate football players from Clark County at four-year programs fared. (Blank signifies a bye week).
