Letter: Keep politics out of Arlington

By Darrell Anderson, Battle Ground
Published: September 21, 2024, 6:00am

Regarding Arlington National Cemetery and politics, I do not believe that any politician, parent, political party or partisan should use Arlington (or any similar cemetery) for political reasons, and I consider that use to be unpatriotic.

For centuries, we have honored our fallen with flags and flowers, our shared memories, and our thanks for their service and sacrifice. We do not care what their politics were. They are beyond caring, and we owe them our silence.

We encourage readers to express their views about public issues. Letters to the editor are subject to editing for brevity and clarity. Limit letters to 200 words (100 words if endorsing or opposing a political candidate or ballot measure) and allow 30 days between submissions. Send Us a Letter
