Letter: Column offers nothing new

Susan Estrich’s column on the Harris/Trump debate shows her preference for Harris and disdain for Trump (“Trump gained nothing Tuesday,” The Columbian, Sept. 15). We learned nothing new from the debate or column. Harris was oblique; Trump was abrasive.

Critiquing the debate, Estrich glosses over Harris’ generalities on issues and then launches into a diatribe on Trump. To be fair, both parties need to be reviewed in the opinion column with the same “Why didn’t you answer the question?” Only at the end of her column does she offer a constructive critique.

We encourage readers to express their views about public issues. Letters to the editor are subject to editing for brevity and clarity. Limit letters to 200 words (100 words if endorsing or opposing a political candidate or ballot measure) and allow 30 days between submissions. Send Us a Letter
