Prep football roundup: Kolten Gesser’s five TD passes help Seton Catholic roll past Castle Rock 48-14

Camas rolls over Lincoln; Kelso beaten by late field goal

Kolten Gesser threw for 243 yards and five touchdowns to help lead the Seton Catholic Cougars to a 48-14 Trico League victory at Castle Rock on Friday.

Gesser completed 18 of 26 passes with touchdowns to Dylan Hamilton, Teddy Wieczorek, Ryker Ruelas, Jacob Williams and Joe Callerame.

Williams, who rushed 19 times for 165 yards, also had a 65-yard TD run in the third quarter for the Cougars (3-0 overall), ranked No. 2 in Class 1A in the first state media poll.

Callerame had the first touchdown of the game on an 8-yard run.

Castle Rock (2-1) scored on passes from Trevor Rogen to Owen Langdon in the second quarter and Aiden Mead in the fourth.

CAMAS 33, LINCOLN-TACOMA 14 — Jake Davidson threw five touchdown passes and the Papermakers defense played another stellar game to a non-league win in Tacoma.

Davidson threw two touchdown passes to Jack Macdonald and one each to Chase McGee and Nikko Speer as the Papermakers took a 27-0 lead after three quarters.

BELLARMINE PREP 27, KELSO 24 — Cal Tsuneyoshi connected on a 22-yard field goal with 27 seconds left to lift the Lions to a non-league win in Tacoma despite a huge game from Kelso’s Aden Mintonye.

The senior running back rushed for 317 yards and 28 carries and three touchdowns for Kelso, but it was not enough.

Mintonye’s 81-yard touchdown run in the third quarter gave Kelso a 21-17 lead.

But Josiah Moeckel’s 2-yard touchdown run put Bellarmine Prep back up 24-21 heading into the fourth quarter.

Tate Mead converted a 25-yard field goal with 2:05 left to play to tie the game 24-24.

But the Lions drove downfield in the final two minutes to set up Tsuneyoshi’s winning kick.

MARK MORRIS 14, COLUMBIA RIVER 0 —  The Mark Morris defense recorded four sacks, nine tackles-for-loss, scored on a safety, recovered a fumble, and intercepted a pass and held the Rapids to -2 net yards rushing in a shutout win.

Kenneth Mullen rushed for 82 yards and quarterback Carter Huhta rushed for 69 yards and passed for 73.
