The longest-tenured member of Ridgefield’s school board, Emily Enquist, submitted her resignation on Sept. 10.

“I am so grateful and honored to have been able to serve the Ridgefield School District,” Enquist said in a news release. “This was not an easy decision to make — it was a family decision. While there is no perfect time to step away, this is the right time for me and my family.”

Her final meeting serving on the Ridgefield School District’s board of directors will be Oct. 8. A brief reception to honor Enquist will immediately precede the meeting at 4:30 p.m. in the Columbia Assembly Room at the Ridgefield Administrative and Civic Center.

“Over the years, I have leaned on Emily and her experience to help guide us through the path of learning this job,” Brett Jones, president of the board, said in the news release. “She has served the community and the Ridgefield School District well, and she will be missed!”

The district is seeking applications from those interested in serving the remainder of Enquist’s elected term. The position (District 1) will also be up for election in November 2025.

Candidates must be U.S. citizens, residents and qualified voters in the school district, and they must reside within the boundaries of the director district that they represent.

“Being able to serve my community in this role has meant so much to me,” Enquist said. “I am so grateful for all of the relationships, and I will continue to support Ridgefield Schools in any possible way that I can because I love this community.”
