Letter: State Highway 14 needs more work

For the past couple years, I’ve been an excited Camas resident awaiting the Department of Transportation’s state Highway 14 lane improvement. But after observing a significant collision on Sept. 14, I’m questioning the necessity of the improvements.

There’s the obvious additional lanes; this should not have taken so long to paint. There’s an overly complicated occasional use shoulder lane, if the lane is safe for high-traffic times then it should be safe to use at all times. There’s a wall WSDOT built on one side of the highway — apparently only the residents on one side of the highway deserve a noise reduction.

Waiting for WSDOT to finish the unnecessarily laborious task of adding some lanes to state Highway 14.
